Unleash your creativity in the “I CAN B!” competition
GRADE 11 and 12 learners can unleash their creativity in the “I Can Be” competition launched by the Three Ring Circus on 1 May.
So grab your pens, microphones and cameras in the competition that encourages learners to submit creative projects highlighting their business and arts talents in a search for creative and entrepreneurial talent.
The theme is “U Can B Anything U Want to B”.
Learners from around the country can submit entries in the following categories.
- Creative writing: Put pen to paper in the form of an essay or short story;
- Song/video/art: Pick up your paintbrush or camera and create a piece of your own work;
- Original invention: Use photographs or illustrations to show your genius;
- Entrepreneurship: Create business plan of your idea;
- Self-created website: Take your web skills to work for an original website.
“The purpose of the competition is to encourage the youth of South Africa to believe in their abilities and dreams. The various categories allow each student to put forward their best work”, says Kay Cheytanov, director of Three Ring Circus.
Last year’s winner of R10 000, Kim Wainer of Yeshiva College, won the creative writing category and the judges described her short story as imaginative, original and captivating surpassing all other entries.
Three Ring Circus is responsible for the annual Standard Bank Rocking Future Roadshow, an educational roadshow designed to motivate and educate matriculants about their options to enable them to make informed decisions about their life after school.
The winning entries will be chosen by five independent judges who are experts in their fields. The first prize winner will receive R10 000 in prize money. Four runners-up will each get cash prizes to the value of R1000.
The competition close 21 August 2009 and the five competition winners will be announced on 31 August 2009.
